Waterbury Farrel® Wire-Flattening Mills are the first choice for industries in which high speed and precision are required. Typical products are rectangular copper wire for electrical equipment, low-carbon steel ribbon for BX cable, nickel-chrome flat wire for heating elements, and high-carbon wire for springs. Mills operate at speeds exceeding 3500 fpm and are available in single or multiple stands. Wire capacities range from a few microns to 20 mm.

The unique design of Waterbury Farrel® Hot and Cold Tandem Rod Mills permits a compact arrangement of a number of mills in tandem. Thus, a greater reduction of rod is possible in one straight-through pass rather than by other cold-rolling processes, at lower production costs. Reduction of the rod is accomplished by passing it through a series of rolls in a mill in which each successive housing is set at right angles to the adjacent housing. By this method, the rod can be rolled first on two corners and then on the other two corners at 90 degrees apart, permitting it to pass through the mill in a straight line.
